The Sumter County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in locating two men who broke into a Sumter gun shop early Friday morning. Spokesman Ken Bell said Friday that the two men took firearms valued at about $20,000 from Tony's Gun Shop, 4300 Broad Street in Sumter, about 2 a.m. Bell said that an alarm sounded at the time of the break-in, and although deputies were on scene within four minutes, the suspects had already fled. He said they gained entry by taking a lock off the door. Bell described the suspects as black males wearing dark clothing and baseball caps. He said the pair wore bandanas, one red and one blue, to cover their faces, along with gloves. Agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are assisting in the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office at (803) 436-2000 or Crime Stoppers at (803) 436-2718. Callers may remain anonymous.
