King Team to hold annual Fish Fry and Yard Sale July 2

The King Team for Clarendon County Relay for Life will hold its annual Fish Fry and Yard Sale from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 2 at the home of Thomas and Paulette King, 7917 Greeleyville Highway in Manning. The fish fry will start at 9 a.m., and golden fried fish sandwiches are $4 each, while the best lemonade in Wilson is $1. The yard sale will feature furniture; men’s, women’s and children’s clothing; odds and ends; sweet treats; and much more.

Fire Department responding to reported tractor-trailer fire

The Clarendon County Fire Department is currently responding to a tractor-trailer reportedly on fire between the 105 and 106 mile-markers in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95. Traffic may be slower during this time.

Pet of the Day: Tiger

Tiger is a 12-week-old male Domestic Medium Haired black and white tabby kitten. He has had his age appropriate shots, been neutered and tested negative for feline leukemia. Even though he has a masculine name, he’s a cuddle bug. Stop by A Second Chance Animal Shelter and see Tiger and his siblings, Prissy, Dusty and Timmy. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The adoption fee is $100.


Drivers take aim at Turbeville traffic law

A class-action lawsuit filed in Clarendon County is asking the local Common Pleas Court to nullify Turbeville’s Town Traffic Ordinance and also return “millions of dollars to the tens of thousands of drivers” who have received tickets under the local law since its passage in 2003.
Plaintiffs Rebecca Robbins and Marie Babayan claim they were both fined during separate stops in the small town with a population of a little more than 800 in excess of what state law allows.
