Graham provides final thoughts on RNC

We started off with a early breakfast with Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson. We also had Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster along with several others, like Congressman Joe Wilson.

After breakfast for the first time this week we had a few hours on our own. I went shopping with my son and had lunch with several SC folks. All this week their were events you could sign up for and go by yourself or with others. I know Cindy Risher of Summerton took advantage of this and attended several private meetings with political people like Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey.

This was a pleasant week. Yes we did have protesters and demonstrations but no harm was done and the city of Cleveland and their citizens treated us well. They made us feel welcome and wanted.

The last night at the convention was a little long but worth every minute. We had some very interesting speakers. I thought that Pastor Mark Burns of SC set the crowd on fire. It was like being at a revival for a short while. I was impressed with the lineup and how the GOP was so diversified on stage. This whole week we have had religious speakers from Baptist and other Protestant groups to Buddhist, Sikh, Native American and several more world religions. I was also impressed at all the different types of nationalities and races that we had speak. The main thing I heard last night before Trump spoke was how our party is really reaching out to the LBGT community. Some folks we have always welcomed but now we want to make sure that group understand that they do have room in our party. Last night Mr. Peter Thiel, a Libertarian, a billionaire, and gay man spoke about why he is supporting Trump and the Republican Party. Our party still believe marriage is between a man and woman and we still believe that all life is precious because we believe that God does not make mistakes. This is the biggest difference between our two major parties.

The Trump speech was good. Long 75 minutes but good. He did not harm himself. His daughter spoke and introduced her Daddy. She definitely did a great job. Donald Trump covered a lot in his hour plus. He touched on major subjects. The most important to me was the Supreme Court appointments what most of us Republicans feel is most important.

I want to thank The Manning Times and manninglive.com and everyone that kept up with our adventure at the RNC this week. I had my son with me and it is believed to be the first time a father and son has been Delegates from SC for the SCGOP in its history.

Next week, Manning Mayor Julia Nelson will be a delegate at the DNC in Philadelphia. I am looking forward to keeping up with her. I hope you will also.

Thank you, Cleveland.
