Jury now deliberating Morris' fate

It is now for 12 people to decide the guilt or innocence of a 40-year-old Sumter man charged in the July 4, 2014, boating death of Sumter resident Hailey Joanne Bordeaux.

The four-day trial of Chad Morris came to an end late Friday morning, with Judge Roger Young putting the case in the jury's hands. A verdict is expected this afternoon.

Morris is charged with reckless homicide by boat, a charge which carries up to 10 years in prison; and failure to render aid, a charge which carries between one and 25 years in prison.
