A Clarendon County jury found a 40-year-old Sumter man guilty Friday on negligent operation of a watercraft and failure to render assistance with death resulting.
Cha. Morris was initially charged with the latter offense and reckless homicide by operation of a watercraft for his role in the 2014 death of Hailey Joanne Bordeaux.
Negligent operation is a lesser-included offense for reckless homicide.
The jury found Morria not guilty of reckless homicide.
Sentencing is expected shortly. Manninglive com will have an update when a sentence is available.
