Thigpen-Floyd Wedding

Whitney Renea Thigpen and Woody Austin Floyd we3re united in marriage at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2016, at First Baptist Church in Turbeville

The bride is the daughter of William Darry Thigpen Jr. and Rhonda Nexsen Thigpen of Turbeville, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Ernest Nexsen of Cades and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Darry Thigpen Sr. She is a 2012 graduate of East Clarendon High School and received a bachelor of science degree in heaLth science in May 2016 from Clemson University. She is pursuing a doctorate of physical therapy at the University of South Carolina.

The groom is the son of Dawn McElveen Floyd of New Zion and Woody Allen Floyd of Olanta, and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Lee McElveen of New Zion and the late Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Allen Floyd. He is a 2012 graduate of East Clarendon High School and graduated in 2016 from North Greeneville University. He is employed as a social studies teacher and assistant football coach with Lower Richland High School in Columbia.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a beaded, lace strapless trumpet silhouette white gown, with a full white bouquet of roses, carnations and eucalyptus.

The Rev. Robert Craven officiated at the ceremony.

Music was provided by Melba Hutto, pianist; and Jay Johnson, vocalist.

Leslie Nexsen Creech served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Anna Benton Love, Hannah Voisin, Gracelyn Coker, Sheila Lee, Devyn Youngblood, Amelia Coker, Alexus Watford, Taylor Arney, Emily Johnson and Jessica Curry.

Lexi Ann Goff served as the flower girl.

Woody Allen Floyd served as best man. Groomsmen included Jerry Floyd, Thomas Floyd, Zach Graham, Tylar Lee, Nelson Gibbons, Carson Lee Coker, Thomas Lee, Will Thigpen, Reed Coker and Kemper Cannon.

Mason Lee served as ring bearer.

Ushers included Landon Creech, Logan Creech, Thomas Bryant and Tanner Bryant.

The rehearsal party was given by the groom's parents at W.A. McClam's Livery Stables in Lake City.

The reception was given by the bride's parents at Sunset Acres.

After a honeymoon trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple resides in Columbia.
