Georgetown man arrested after running out of gas

A 43-year-old Georgetown man was arrested about 5:05 p.m. April 6 by the Manning Police Department after police stopped to help a vehicle that had run out of gas. According to reports, Matthew Donald Kelly of 1032 Dukes St. in Georgetown was charged with driving under suspension, open container and possession of marijuana after police observed open beer cans in the vehicle’s center console. This led to a search through dispatch, which showed Kelly’s license was suspended and that he was “wanted out of Georgetown County,” reports indicate. During a search of the vehicle, police located “one vacuum-sealed bag containing a quantity of a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana,” reports state. The estimated weight was 19.37 grams. Kelly was transported to the Clarendon County Detention Center.
