CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — The Spoleto Festival USA will be simulcasting two performances of "Porgy and Bess" on big-screen televisions this season because tickets for the iconic George Gershwin opera set in Charleston quickly sold out. Festival General Director Nigel Redden announced Wednesday that the May 30 performance will be shown in Charleston's Marion Square. The following night's performance will be shown at West Ashley High School. The simulcast performances are free and it's the first time the festival has shown a simulcast of a performance. Redden said it will make it easier for a wider audience to see the production. The 40th season of the internationally known arts festival opens May 27 and continues through June 12.
