Summerton woman dies in wreck

A 65-year-old Summerton woman was killed Wednesday morning after the van in which she was riding ran off the side of Luke Godwin Road and struck an embankment.
Clarendon County Deputy Coroner Bucky Mock said Clarendon EMS performed CPR on Nancy Gibson at the scene before transporting her to Clarendon Memorial Hospital, where she died from blunt force trauma. No autopsy will be performed, Mock said.
S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Judd Jones said that Gibson was the passenger in a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country van driven by Coy Gibson. Both subjects were wearing seatbelts. Coy Gibson was transported to Clarendon Memorial as well. The extent of his injuries are unknown.
Jones siad the wreck is still under investigation.

    Aunt Nancy was an inspiration to our whole family!!!! Even though we were miles apart for most of the time she made sure to stay in touch!! My heart sank when I got the news but in my heart I know she wouldn’t wanna come back for nothing. She is seeing better than she has ever!!! I bet she sure liked reuniting with her mom and children An brother!! Along with many other family members!! I wanna say despite what happened I know she happier than ever now but please pray for our family an John!! I know John loved an still does love Nancy!! I can only imagine the pain he must be in. John I’m sorry you are having to go through this. Remember your not alone. Everything will get better with time. Love you and aunt Nancy! RIP NANCY!! We love you an watch over us!!!!
