Janice Oakley Fisher, 66, wife of Vernon Curtis Fisher, died Saturday, May 7, 2016, at her home.

Born April 15, 1950, in Evergreen, she was a daughter of the late Jim Oakley and the late Bernice Odell Oakley. She loved her karaoke friends who knew her as "Ma" and she loved and helped anyone she thought was in need. She loved flowers, especially yellow roses and her favorite thing to do was fish when she out fished and caught more than anyone else including her husband, her brother-in-law, John Fisher and her special friend, Freddie White, who she considered her son.

She is survived by her husband of Manning; her children, Kipton W. Wise (Lori), Christy Fisher Williams and Vernon A. Fisher (Roxann), all of Jacksonville, Florida and Charles W. Fisher (Allison) of Cuba, Alabama; two sisters, Naomi O. Edmunds and Nadine O. Morris, both of Florence; a brother, Don Oakley of Ridgeland; thirteen grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Earl, Philip, Ronald, Glenn and Jerry Oakley; her sisters, Jacqueline O. Taylor, Hazel O. Hudson and Frankie O. Buffkin.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Ferguson officiating, assisted by Jonathan Tidwell.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2016, at Stephens Funeral Home.
