Manning Police seeking armed robbery suspects

The Manning Police Department is searching for two suspects who allegedly robbed a woman Tuesday evening on South Church Street behind the Bank of Clarendon. Inv. Rick Elms said the woman was walking down South Church Street about 6:42 p.m. Tuesday with her toddler in a stroller when two black males approached her from behind, one grabbing her cell phone off the stroller and putting what appeared to be a gun to her and telling her to give them money. "The victim stated that she did not have any money, and the suspect then told her to give him her headphones," Elms said. The suspect who was "doing the talking," according to reports, then ran away with the victim's phone through the field behind the Department of Social Services building on South Church Street. The victim told police the second suspect "looked very scared and frozen." "The victim stated that this suspect then said he would give her phone back before running off with her headphones," Elms said. "The victim did not see what direction the second suspect ran because she was flagging down a car to call 911." The victim described the suspect who allegedly pulled a gun on her as a "tall, skinny, dark-skinned black male wearing dark pants and a white hoodie with either gray or black stripes." She said the second suspect was a "shorter black male with a darker skin complexion than the first subject." Both suspects were reported by the victim as "young, possibly school ages." Both suspects were said to have had their hoods pulled and drawn close to their faces. The victim was able to pull up an app that showed her phone was last active somewhere on Robert Street in Manning. Officers located an Otterbox and a BB gun in the Robert Street location, but not the phone. The phone was valued at $500. Anyone with information is asked to call (803) 435-8859 or 911.
