Historical Society plans annual Spring Tour

The Clarendon County Historical Society will hold its annual Spring Tour on May 19, with a trip to various historical places throughout Clarendon County. Sites to be explored include Historic Richardson Cemetery, Summerton, Turbeville homes, Sardinia-Gable homes and other historic homes. Participants will gather at 8:15 a.m. May 19 in the parking lot of First Baptist Church in Manning, and will leave by 9 a.m. There will be some walking required, so wear comfortable shoes. No high heels, please. There will be an impressive picnic lunch for all to enjoy at Sardinia Presbyterian Church. Tour participants need to call Margaret Robertson at (803) 435-8289 to volunteer with lunch fixings for this scrumptious meal. Time of arrival back to Manning will be 6 p.m. Reservations are $25 each for Historical Society members and $30 each for non-members. Checks may be made payable to the Clarendon County Historical Society, and may be mailed to or dropped off at the Clarendon County Archives and History Center, 211 N. Brooks St., Manning, SC 29102.
