LMA sporting clays teams earn second, third at state championship

The Laurence Manning Academy sporting clays team participated Saturday in the South Carolina Youth Shooting Foundation's State Championship at the Hermitage Farms Shooting Complex in Camden. A total of 527 shooters from various schools, clubs and organizations competed during this event, during which LMA shooters achieved some of their best scores of the season. In fact, LMA players were able to manage second- and third-place wins. The LMA girls' intermediate team comprised of Jamie Williamson, Carrie Rickenbaker and Isabella Harris managed third place after succumbing to a shoot-off battle between the trio and Feather Horn Farms, who placed second.

The boys junior varsity advanced team comprised of Trevor Turcotte, John Burroughs and Justin Lowder managed second place, scoring their best composite score of the season, 278 out of 300, only two points behind first place.

Four team members shot their best scores of the season, including Wesley Turner, Hunter Thompson, Aubrey Pack and Justin Lowder.
