Two local charities are participating Tuesday in the 3rd annual Midlands Gives event, during which folks may donate online for a 24-hour period, starting 12 a.m. Tuesday and ending at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday. "In its third year, Midlands Gives, hosted by the Central Carolina Community Foundation, the Midlands' expert on philanthropy, serves as a hub for donors to give online to 383 local nonprofits in the 11 Midlands counties served by the foundation," reads a release from Midlands Gives. "In 2015, Midlands Gives raised an astonishing $1,543,032.65 for 251 charities, up from $704,932.23 raised for 150 nonprofits in 2014, the event’s inaugural year. Midlands Gives is one of almost 100 giving days that will be taking place in cities across America as part of Give Local America." Both Jordan Crossroads Ministry Center - Haven of Rest and the Crossroads Wounded Warrior Archery Foundation are participating in this year's event. JCMC - Haven of Rest serves as a domestic violence crisis women's center in Clarendon County. It was founded by Ann Driggers in the mid-2000s. Log on to MidlandsGives.org on Tuesday, complete the giving form and select JCMC Haven of Rest OR the Crossroads Wounded Warrior Archery Foundation and make a donation using your debit or credit card. There is a $20 minimum. Organizers thank you in advance for giving to this worthy cause.
