Ashley Conyers completed 79 pushups March 31 to win the Anytime Fitness pushup challenge for the month.


Epps named MECC Teacher of the Year

Kathryn Epps has been named the Manning Early Childhood Center Teacher of the Year.
Epps has 17 years of teaching experience, all of them with Clarendon School District 2. She is a graduate of Coastal Carolina University who has a master’s degree from Francis Marion University. Both degrees are in early childhood education.
“The most rewarding part of teaching is that it gives a sense of purpose in my life,” Epps said. “It has been very fulfilling to develop lifelong relationships with students as well as coworkers throughout my career.”

Lake Marion Artisans hosting fundraiser for scholarship fund

The Lake Marion Artisans Guild is once again sponsoring a $500 college art scholarship to a local Clarendon County high school student.
The David and Shirley Manley Scholarship was first awarded in 2014. The Manleys moved to Summerton in 2006. David is retired from the U.S. Navy and Shirley from the federal government. Both had an interest in art and both joined the Lake Marion Artisans Guild in 2009.
