The Sumter County Sheriff's Office is reaching out to neighboring jurisdictions for the public's help in locating suspects believed to have broken into a Mayesville store about 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Deputies responded to a burglar alarm at The Station, 5400 Florence Highway in Mayesville, shortly after 3 a.m. Tuesday to find the store had been broken in to. The suspects drove up in a late-model white Ford F-250 crew cab pickup truck, attached a chain to the front security doors and used the truck to pull the doors away from the business.

Once inside, the men went to the ATM and realized it was open and empty. They then jumped the counter and stole an undetermined amount of Newport cigarettes and an undetermined number of music CDs. The store’s security cameras were able to capture images of the incident. Anyone with information should call the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office at (803) 436-2000 or (803) 436-2718.
