The Sumter County Sheriff's Office is reaching out to neighboring counties for help in locating a subject alleged to have attempted a sexual assault on an 11-year-old girl early Tuesday afternoon. Spokesman Ken Bell said the girl was home along in a home in the 2600 block of Tindal Road about 3 p.m. when a man broke in and allegedly attacked her. She was able to escape and the man fled. He is described as a white male, 20-30 years old with blond hair. He has tattoos on his upper left arm and right forearm. He was last seen wearing black pants, brown boots and a black T-shirt with either a bird or wing design on front. The suspect fled in a red pickup truck with silver tool boxes on each side. The truck was said to have scratches on both sides. Anyone who spots this person should not approach him but should call 911 immediately.
