She is a graduate of Coastal Carolina University who has a master's degree from Francis Marion University. Both degrees are in early childhood education. "It has been very fulfilling to develop lifelong relationships with students as well as coworkers throughout my career." Epps is a member of PSTA and the Beta Alpha chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She is the chairwoman for the Manning Early Childhood Center Relay for Life Committee and a member of the Evening Primrose Garden Club. She also attends Seacoast Church.
