Betty Jean Freeman Green, 81, widow of Durant Thomas Green, Sr., died Friday, April 29, 2016, at her home. Born August 17, 1934, in Andrews, she was a daughter of the late Eugene Clarence Freeman and the late Minta Iva McCants Freeman. She was a member of Kingstree First Free Will Baptist Church. “Separation is the great human tragedy. Separation from God’s physical form, separation from people we love, separation from health when we’re sick. Heaven is going to be a beautiful place.” Garry Eadon died Friday – if you’re stateside – from complications caused by an exotic disease contracted on a recent aid trip to Fiji. Kerrie Ilease Cribb, 26, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016, surrounded by her family and friends. Born November 10, 1989, in Sumter, she was a daughter of Phil Allen Cribb and Betty Ruth Daniels Cribb. She was a Registered Nurse and a member of Manning United Methodist Church. She was an avid sportsman playing on the Coker College soccer team; she served as a lifeguard during the summer at the beach, and in high school she lettered in basketball, tennis, and softball. WASHINGTON, N.C. – Sharon Jones Ragland, age 61, wife of Kenneth E. Ragland, died Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at her home. Mrs. Ragland was born in Montgomery, Kentucky on September 4, 1954, a daughter of the late Ollie Calvin Jones and Mattie Louise Markland Jones. Relay for Life Bank Day on Tuesday

Bank Day for 2016 Clarendon County Relay for Life will be held noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at NBSC in Manning. This is a time for teams to start turning in money that has been raised throughout the past few months. Relay itself is 6 p.m. to midnight May 6 at Manning High School’s Ramsey Stadium. Harvin signs with Morris College

Manning High School senior Makeba Harvin signed Tuesday to play basketball for Morris College in Sumter. “When I went to visit the campus, I had a pleasant experience, and I thought it was close enough for my mom and relatives to come to games,” Harvin said. Manning High School Coach Darren Mazyck said that Harvin will be “an excellent addition to the Morris College program.” “Coach Gilbert Wilson, you are getting a really tremendous athlete,” Mazyck said.
