LMA students visit S.C. State Museum

The Laurence Manning Academy ninth and tenth grade honors classes went to the South Carolina State Museum in Columbia March 15. The sophomore class, taught by Inger Walker, just finished reading "The Tragedy of Julius Caesar" by William Shakespeare and the freshmen class just finished studying the history of Rome with Nancy McInnis.

The museum offered an impressive hands-on tour of Julius Caesar and the Roman military. Students were able to try on traditional legion shields and weapons, as shown by Chandler Evans. Some students learned how to construct a Roman arch, as pictured. Many aspects of ancient Rome were covered in the exhibit.
