Forbes magazine has recognized Continental for the second year in a row as of of America's Best Employers.
Continental has invested more than $1.5 billion in the United States since 2011, and opened a facility on U.S. 521 between Manning and Sumter that year. The company just announced a $1.4 billion investment for a new commercial vehicle tire plant in Mississippi.
With more than 208,000 employees worldwide, the company employs about 17,000 people in the United States.
Forbes magazine’s list of America’s Best Employers is generated from a national survey among 30,000 employees from companies throughout the United States and rates employers who continuously raise the bar on employee initiatives and strive to achieve corporate culture excellence. Each survey participant was asked to rank both his own employer as well as other employers in the same industry sector.
“We are extremely excited and proud to once again be named as one of America’s Best Employers by Forbes,” said Continental North America Vice-president of Human Relations Rick Ledsinger. “Attracting and retaining top talent has become more challenging in our business. As the tech-driven automotive industry continues to evolve, we must remain flexible within this changing landscape by offering unique programs and services that not only meet the needs of employees, but their families too.”
With millennials increasingly joining the workforce and drastically changing the workplace, so are the expectations that employees have towards employers. Flexible working arrangements, a casual work atmosphere, more creativity in the workplace as well as an improved work-life-balance are just a few of the factors that today’s employees are taking into consideration when deciding on a new job and selecting their employer of choice.
“At Continental, our employees are our greatest asset," said Ledsinger. "In our 2015 worldwide employee survey, the vast majority – 85 percent – of employees said they were proud to work for Continental. This result is around 10 percentage points higher than the previous survey carried out in 2011. Our employees are working on ideas and technologies that are shaping future mobility. Ledsinger said the company strives "each year" at becoming the employer of choice.
