Brunson-Matthews engagement

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wentworth Brunson III of Alcolu announce the engagement of their daughter, Kayla Brooks Brunson, to Kenneth Graison Matthews, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Legrand Matthews of Alcolu.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Lois Ann Hardy of Alcolu and the late James Theron Hardy, formerly of Turbeville, and Mrs. Clarence Wentworth Brunson Jr. of Alcolu and the late Mr. Clarence Wentworth Brunson Jr., formerly of Alcolu. She graduated from Laurence Manning Academy and received a bachelor of arts in speech pathology from Columbia College, along with a master’s degree in speech and language from South Carolina State University. She is employed as a speech therapist with Clarendon School District 2.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Theodosia Coker of Alcolu and the late Friendly Coker, formerly of Alcolu, and James David Philips of Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Newman of Sumter. He graduated from Laurence Manning Academy and attended the University of South Carolina Sumter. He is employed with Black River Electric Cooperative.

A wedding is planned for June 4, 2016, at Graham Baptist Church in Sumter.
