A 22-year-old Greeleyville man allegedly bit a 45-year-old Clarendon Memorial Hospital employee about 11:25 p.m. Dec. 22 after the suspect was reported as “a patient going crazy and out of control (with) several staff members attemping to restrain him,” according to the Manning Police Department.
The suspect, who was not arrested at the time, allegedly broke free of his restraints and “sat up in bed like a madman, yelling to the top of his lungs, ‘Oh, Lord help me. I can’t breath,’ although he was going crazy, using all his strength to get up, move around and resist,” reports indicate.… Read the rest

The Manning Junior High School boys basketball team improved to 5-2 on the season after defeating Hillcrest Middle on Monday 70-29. Corey Graham led the team with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Xephen Richardson had 17 points and 15 rebounds. Xavier Hicks had 10 points. T. Jeffcoat had 11 points for Hillcrest.

The Clarendon Hall boys’ B-team lost 22-9 to Colleton Prep on Monday. Jonathan Mcintoh led the Saints with five points, while William Rogan and Michael Josey had two points each. The teams will play again 4 p.m. Thursday in Summerton.

The Varsity Lady Swampcats fell to Hamond 59-26 on Tuesday night. Courtney Beatson was the team’s high-scorer, with 11 points. Brooke Bennett followed with five points. Cora Lee Downer had four points, while Sara Fraser had three points, Julia Morris had two points and Bailey Connors had one point.

The Clarendon Hall girls B-team picked up a win 13-6 on Monday over Colleton Prep in Walterboro. Mattie Zeigler Amberly Way led the Lady Saints with four points each. Hadleigh McIntosh ended the game with three points, while Bailey Corbett added two points. The team is now 1-0 on the season.

A 30-year-old woman living at an apartment complex within Manning city limits told the Manning Police Department about 11:25 p.m. Dec. 30 that a 29-year-old Manning man threw a beer bottle through the back window of her Mercury Grand Marquis, breaking the window and causing about $200 in damages after an argument. The woman stated that she has a child with the suspect. She said he left in a burgundy car before police arrived.
Police searched the area around the complex, but were unable to locate the suspect.

The Manning Police Department reported about 10:45 a.m. Dec. 29 that a 23-year-old man living on Huggins Street in Manning allegedly picked up a stool during an argument with his mother and attempted to hit the woman with it, but that family members present intervened to take the stool from him.

A 27-year-old Manning man was charged Dec. 29 at a restaurant on Paxville Highway in Manning with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, second offense, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana within proximity of a school.
According to reports, the restaurant’s manager told police that she observed Trent Lamark Williams, 27, of 726 Barnwell Road in Manning, attempt to sell marijuana to one of the store’s employees. A 39-year-old Manning man was charged about 1:57 a.m. Jan. 2 with third-degree domestic violence and breach of the peace after allegedly making a gesture like he was going to cut his wife’s throat in front of witnesses and officers with the Manning Police Department at a home in the first block of Branch Street in Manning.
