A 22-year-old Greeleyville man allegedly bit a 45-year-old Clarendon Memorial Hospital employee about 11:25 p.m. Dec. 22 after the suspect was reported as "a patient going crazy and out of control (with) several staff members attemping to restrain him," according to the Manning Police Department. The suspect, who was not arrested at the time, allegedly broke free of his restraints and "sat up in bed like a madman, yelling to the top of his lungs, 'Oh, Lord help me. I can't breath,' although he was going crazy, using all his strength to get up, move around and resist," reports indicate. At that point, the vi tim tried to hold the suspect down, but the suspect was able to move his head and bit the victim on his lower right wrist, causing redness but no broken skin. The victim said he wished to press charges, but police said the suspect was not fit at the time for jail. Eventually, the suspect was given a shot and fell asleep. The victim was advised to seek a warrant.
