Man arrested after hitting woman, breaking phone

A 19-year-old Manning was charged about 12:34 p.m. Dec. 8 with simple assault and malicious injury to personal property after an 18-year-old woman living in an apartment complex in Manning told the Manning Police Department that the man slapped her in the left side of the mouth during an argument shortly before he complaint. The woman said the man called her on the phone, and when she did not answer, he showed up at her home, accused her of cheating and "slapped our of the blue so fast in the left side of the mouth, she was shocked," reports state. The woman said the suspect hit her twice, and took her cordless phone and threw it against the wall when she tried to call 911, causing about $89 in damages. Police reported a minor cut to the bottom left side of the victim's lip, which was bleeding.
