Family seeks help with purchase of headstone for late disabled son

A local family is seeking some help with the purchase of a headstone for one of their own.

Judi Haley said her brother, Joseph Houston Mincey, was born Sept. 24, 1988, with half of his heart missing. This wasn't detected at birth, but he stopped breathing shortly after and suffered brain damage.

She said he had four open heart surgeries and was sent home, and the doctors said he wouldn't live past the age of five. He died Christmas Day at the age of 27.

The family has asked us to post this, due to the cost of a headstone. Many resources have went into Joey's care throughout the years.

"I would like to help my mom and contribute to the purchase of a headstone for my sweet little brother," said Judi Haley. "My mother has spent the past 27 years devoted to the care of my brother and my (disabled) daughter, and I want to help her, but I can't do it alone."
