Virginia Ellisor Pegram

ALCOLU - Virginia Ellisor Pegram, 88, widow of Robert Alvin Pegram Sr., formerly of Walnut Cove, North Carolina, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, at the home of her son.

Born June 22, 1927, in Port St. Joe, Forida, she was the daughter of the late Adam Grant Ellisor and Ida Weathers Ellisor. She was retired from Rockingham County School System after 25 years of service, serving in the Reidsville City Schools. She was a longtime member of Fulp Moravian Church.

She volunteered at the Shepherd’s Center in Kernersville and at the office of the Christ Covenant Church. Virginia was an alumni member of Auburn University.

In her teaching career, she impacted many lives and remembered most of her former student’s faces and names.

Survivors include a son Robert Alvin Pegram Jr. (Joyce) of Acolu two grandchildren, Amanda Solomon and Nichole Presnell; five great-grandchildren, Justin, Emily and Caleb Solomon and Taylor and Riley Presnell; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Margaret McKnight; a son, Bryan Pegram; two brothers, Weathers Ellisor and Grant Ellisor; and five sisters, Louise Stabler, Martha Rotch, Mildred Ellisor, Warryne Thompson and Cariola McCollum.

A funeral service for Virginia Ellisor Pegram will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel, with Scotty Mounce officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, at Burroughs Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fulp Moravian Church, 1556 US Highway 311 South, Walnut Cove, NC 27052 or to Trinity United Methodist Church, 2653 Trinity Church Road, Alcolu, SC 29001.
