MT. PLEASANT - Renee Cousar Benefield, 56, wife of Douglas Glass Benefield, died Wednesday, December 3, 2015, at her home.
Born September 19, 1959, in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late William Douglas Cousar and Eve Witherspoon Blackwell Cousar. She was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church where she volunteered with the children's ministry. Renee was a loving mother and a devoted wife.
She is survived by her husband of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, U.S. Army Captain Benjamin Michael Carnell (Beverly) of Summerville and John William Carnell of Florence; a daughter, Eva Suzanne Benefield of Mt. Pleasant; a brother, Michael Cousar (Carrie) of Anderson; a nephew, Davis Cousar; and three nieces, Anne Douglas Cousar, Caroline Cousar and Ella Cate Cousar.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2015, at the Sardinia-Gable cemetery with the Rev. Marshall Blalock officiating.
