Sheriff’s Office offering rides on New Year’s Eve

Sheriff Randy L. Garrett is reminding residents that if their parties get too hard on New Year’s Eve or early New Year’s Day, the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office is there to help. “During your celebration and parties, my staff and I want to remind you all that if someone parties too hard, you can call on your sheriff’s office to get you home safetly,” Garrett said. Family seeks help with purchase of headstone for late disabled son

A local family is seeking some help with the purchase of a headstone for one of their own. Judi Haley said her brother, Joseph Houston Mincey, was born Sept. 24, 1988, with half of his heart missing. This wasn’t detected at birth, but he stopped breathing shortly after and suffered brain damage. She said he had four open heart surgeries and was sent home, and the doctors said he wouldn’t live past the age of five. He died Christmas Day at the age of 27. Patricia Moye Hill, 68, widow of Charles Lewis Hill, Sr., died Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at her residence. Born October 8, 1947, in Manning, she was the daughter of the late Theodore Adolfas Moye and the late Christine Elizabeth Pate Pack. She was a manager for Dollar General and she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Alcolu. Manning man charged with Pennsylvania assault, kidnapping

A Manning man has been charged in Pennsylvania for his alleged role in a hotel beating and kidnapping, the Fairview Township Police there said Wednesday. Fairview Township Police obtained felony warrants for the arrests June 22 for the arrests of Jawan Montel Mack, 19, of Manning, and D’Mikel Woods, 21, of Sumter, according to Detective Jarrett Boyles and online court records. The pair allegedly assaulted Edward Jude Mulholland around that time at the Scottish Inns in Fairview Township.
