Donate to the Clarendon Disaster Relief Fund

Manning Mayor Julia Nelson and Clarendon County Council Chairman Dwight Stewart remind folks to continue donating to a local relief fund.
Anyone interested in helping residents of Clarendon County should make checks payable to the Clarendon County Disaster Relief Fund, c/o Clarendon County Government, 411 Sunset Drive, Manning, SC 29102.

Fifty to 70 percent chance of rain throughout night

The National Weather Service in Columbia is forecasting anywhere from a 50 to 70 percent chance of rain throughout the night. Clarendon County remains under a flood watch until 12 a.m. Sunday. Please stay safe out there, and if you can stay home, please do so. Call 911 if your home should start to take on water.


Water on Alderman Camp Road at June Burn Road

We’ve had a report that Alderman Camp Road in Alcolu is starting to have about a foot of water west of U.S. 301 at June Burn Road.

Plowden Mill at U.S. 301 under water

A reader driving in the area of Plowden Mill Road where it meets U.S. 301 reports that it is completely under water where you veer off 301 onto Plowden Mill. She said you cannot see it coming from 301.


Flash flood warning extended through 10:30 p.m.

A flash flood warning earlier declared for Manning, Summerton, Paxville and Turbeville has been extended to 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Please stay off roads.

Reports are coming in that S.C. 261 is starting to flood in several places again between Manning and Paxville. Bradham Road appears to be flooded again as well, with water “rushing across like a river.”

Reports are coming in that Pocotaligo at U.S. 521 between Alcolu and Manning is beginning to flood again. EDIT: We are told now there is only standing water, and the road is passable. Earlier reports said water was flowing again across the Pocotaligo.

Dispatchers are reporting a light pole sparking in the 6200 block of South Brewington Road. A resident in that area is smelling smoke inside her home at this time.

The S.C. Highway Patrol is reporting a wreck with no injuries at the 115 southbound exit on Interstate 95.


Standing water on AM Nash at Old Georgetown

Dispatchers are reporting about four to five inches of standing water at Old Georgetown and AM Nash roads in Manning.


Flash Flood Warning issued through 9:15 p.m.

The National Weather Service in Columbia has issued a Flash Flood Warning for northeastern Clarendon County and central Sumter County. At 6:17 p.m., Doppler radar indicated a thunderstorm producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly, according to the NWS. Locations that could experience flooding include Manning, Turbeville, Paxville and Shiloh.


Flash Flood Watch in effect through midnight

The National Weather Service in Columbia has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Clarendon County through 12 a.m. Sunday. More rain is expected this afternoon into tonight that could result in flash flooding. A strong upper level storm system will move over South Carolina through Saturday night. Other areas include Lancaster, Elgin, Lancaster Mill, Cheraw, Pageland, Newberry, Winnsboro, Winnsboro Mills, Camden, Lugoff, Edgefield, Johnston, Saluda, Ridge Spring, Seven Oaks, West Columbia, Cayce, Lexington, Red Bank, Oak Grove, Columbia, Bishopville, Aiken, North Augusta, Sumter, Barnwell, Williston, Blackville, Orangeburg, Brookdale, St. Matthews and Bamberg.
