A 47-year-old Turbeville man was killed early Wednesday morning at a Lake City nightclub, according to the Lake City Police Department.
Tommy McGee, 29, was arrested and charged with murder in connection to the incident, which happened about 1:25 a.m. Wednesday at the Office nightclub on John Street in Lake City.
Turbeville resident James E. Welch died after being transferred by EMS to a local hospital, Florence Coroner Keith von Lutcken said. He said an autopsy will be performed at the Medical University of South Carolina hospital.
Officials had no word on when McGee will face a judge for a bond hearing. In South Carolina, magistrate judges may not grant bond when the penalty for an offense is life in prison or the death penalty.
