JV Saints finish season with victory over Jefferson Davis

The Clarendon Hall Saints JV football team finished their season with a victory Oct. 22 over Jefferson Davis Academy 42-28 in Blackville. The Saints received the opening kick-off that was capped off by a 44-yard touchdown run by Wells Robinson. The Saints defense held and the Raiders were forced to turn the ball over on downs. CHS took possession on the 41-yard line. Wells Robinson again scored with a 41-yard touchdown run and he also added the two-point conversion. The Saints led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter. The Raiders then returned the ensuing Kick-off for a touchdown and successfully added the 2 point conversion. The Saints scored on their next possession with a 27-yard touchdown run by Wells Robinson. The Raiders turned the ball over on downs. Kade Elliott scored with a 16 yard touchdown run. Josh Black added the two-point conversion. The Saints defense once again held the Raiders on downs. The Saints took possession on their own 34 yard line with just over a minute left in the half. On second down, Wells Robinson threw a 40 yard halfback pass to Quarterback Josh Black and he was tackled on the 5 yard line. On the next play from scrimmage, Robinson ran it in for a touchdown. With less than a minute to go, the Raiders turned the ball over on an interception by Robinson. On the first play from scrimmage Justin James ran the ball around the right side for a 44-yard touchdown. Robinson added the two-point conversion. This concluded the scoring for the first half with the Saints leading 42-8. With the Saints starters on the sideline for the second half, the Raiders added 20 points to close out the scoring. Wells Robinson led The Saints on offense, with 145 yards on six carries. He also contributed four touchdowns and two PATs. Josh Black had 120 all-purpose yards. Bryce Powell, Bryce Parler and Kade Elliott led the Saints on defense, with an average of six tackles each. Black and Robinson each had an interception. Elliott also recovered a Raiders fumble. This concludes the Saints season with a 3-3 record; with two games cancelled due to inclement weather.
