Saints defeat Newberry Academy

The Clarendon Hall varsity Saints defeated Newberry Academy on Monday at Newberry College in a make-up game initially postponed due to floods earlier this month. The overall score was 48-12. On offense, Gavin Allan scored four touchdowns on runs of 14, 39, 28 and 12 yards. He finished the night with 20 carries for 279 yards. Matthew Corbett scored two touchdowns on runs of 18 and three yards. Corbett finished the night with 11 carries for 71 yards and three two-point conversions. Bobby Ashba scored a touchdown on a five-yard run. Dylan Way finished the night going 2-4 passing for 67 yards. Gavin Allan led the Saints on defense. He and Jarod Schearer had eight tackles each. Lance Browder finished with five tackles and two sacks. Al Hobbs and Matthew Corbett finished with four tackles each, while Hobbs recorded two sacks. The Saints finished with 468 total yards of offense. The Saints are now 5-4 on the season and 4-3 in region play. The team travels Friday to Carolina Academy to take on the Bobcats.
