Wilson McElveen, husband of Margaret Burch Wilson, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, at the Medical University of South Carolina hospital in Charleston.

Born Friday, May 5, 1950, in Pamplico, he was a son of the late Woodrow and Lou Annie McElveen. He attended Florence County public schools. He was employed by Florence County School District 2, retiring after 28 years of service. He was a member of Genesis Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor J. Daryl Wood.

Survivors besides his wife of Pamplico include two sons, Christopher Burch of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Wilson James McElveen of Pamplico; a daughter, Audrey McElveen of Pamplico; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, at Mill Branch AME Church, 1917 North Old River road in Pamplico. Interment will follow in Genesis Baptist Church cemetery in Pamplico.

A viewing will be held from 3-6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, at Mill Branch AME Church, with a wake service from 7-8 p.m. Monday.

Wilson McElveen will be placed in the church at noon Tuesday, for viewing until the hour of services.

The family will receive friends at the home, 444 Main St. in Pamplico.
