Roads list remains the same Sunday, despite Saturday rains

Posted
The following alphabetized list includes 45 roads compiled by county officials which will remain impassable in the long term. Though Clarendon County received up to 5 inches of rain Saturday night, we've heard of no new roadway washouts. Water was reportedly standing on U.S. 521 and S.C. 261 last night, but the roads are reportedly clear now. Please remain safe on state-maintained and county roads. Just because a road is not listed, that does not mean it's not safe. Obey all barricades. The Clarendon County Sheriff's Office will fine, tow and even arrest you. Clarendon County Administrator David Epperson said the county Public Works staff began working on county-maintained roads Friday, and they will continue to work on them daily going forward. He said Greenville County sent a public works crew to assist. “As these roads are repaired, we will be updating the map and list prepared by the county,” said Epperson. The map can can be accessed by clicking here. Johnson said this list is subject to change and updates, and many roads will likely be added as assessments are made.
