County adds four roads to impassable list, one road removed

The following alphabetized list includes 45 roads compiled by county officials which will remain impassable in the long term. According to Michael Johnson with the Clarendon County Fire Department, who has made a Google map detailing the washed out areas, North Brewington Road is now open off U.S. 301. Evans Road, the dirt portion of Garland Road, Puddin Swamp Road and Gardner Road have been added to the impassable list. S.C. 527 in Sumter County near Willard Farms is now impassable as well. Please remain safe on county roads. Just because a road is not listed, that does not mean it's not safe. Obey all barricades. The Clarendon County Sheriff's Office will fine, tow and even arrest you. Clarendon County Administrator David Epperson said the county Public Works staff began working on county-maintained roads Friday, and they will continue to work on them daily going forward. He said Greenville County sent a public works crew to assist. “As these roads are repaired, we will be updating the map and list prepared by the county,” said Epperson.
