Those gathered at last year’s Swamp Fox Symposium thought it would likely be Dr. Joe Stukes’ last portraying Revolution War icons like Francis Marion and Charles Pinckney.
A professor emeritus with Francis Marion University, Stukes said he was stepping down from his role in the event’s annual Saturday night dinner theater.
But Stukes will return this year as Marion, reminiscing about the famous general’s time as the Swamp Fox stalking the British in the South Carolina backcountry.
This year’s symposium will be held Oct. 23-24, with early-bird registration ongoing through Oct. 1. The price for both days – which features lectures, receptions, lunch and dinner – at the early bird price is $90 per person and $165 per couple. After Oct. 1, the price is $95 per person and $175 per couple. Registration closes Oct. 13.
