David Ray Carnes

David Ray Carnes, 64, husband of Joellen A. Saltsman Carnes, finished “The Race” in a time of 64 years, 10 months, 7 days, 16 hours on Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, at his home.
Born Oct. 3, 1950, in Wichita, Kansas, “Dave” was a son of the late Arthur R. Carnes and LaVaughn Helt Carnes.
He was a minister at Christ Christian Church (C3) in Manning. David had a call to preach at an early age and preached in churches all over the country. He attended college at Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly, Missouri, and Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Missouri.
Survivors besides his wife of 45 years include five sons, Lukeus Carnes (Kelly) of Concord, North Carolina, Joshua Carnes (Melissa) of Des Moines, Iowa, David J. Carnes (Lilian) of Marysville, Washington, Michael Carnes (Kimberly) of Rock Hill, and Gabriel Carnes of Des Moines; two sisters, Debra Wolfshorndl (Roger) and DeAun Tait (James); a brother, Arthur R. Carnes III (Dora); his biological father, David D. Ray; and 11 grandchildren, McConaughey, Zachary, Noah, Nathan, Brady, Peyton, Adrian, Avery, Asher, Aria and Kadynce.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his maternal grandparents, Ralph and Florence Helt; his paternal grandparents, Arthur and Rhoda Carnes; and Grandma Ray.
A celebration of life for David Ray Carnes will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, at Jordan United Methodist Church in Manning.
