A 24-year-old Summerton man was arrested about 3:05 a.m. Saturday in the 6000 block of North Brewington Road in Alcolu and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, shortly after deputies with the Clarendon County Sheriff's Office broke up a party where at least 15 people younger than 21 were drinking alcohol. John Andrew McClellan, 24, of 1273 Gin Pond Drive in Summerton, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor Saturday and released later that day on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond. The charge was handed over to Clarendon County General Sessions Court on Friday, according to the Clarendon County Public Court Index. The charge carries up to three years in prison, or a $3,000 fine. According to reports, deputies responding to the scene stopped vehicles in the driveway that appeared to be leaving. None of the occupants were reportedly intoxicated. Sgt. M. Stone reported that he observed a four-wheeler and two Gator vehicles take off and go in the woods when deputies first arrived. They were able to detain those on the vehicles, and found four subjects at a fire barrel outside and four more in the house, including the party's 18-year-old host. "All of the juveniles except one had been drinking or (were) drinking at the time of law enforcement's arrival," reports state. The juveniles' parents were contacted and came to get their kids. All minors present were given citations for minor in possession of alcohol by consumption. Reports did not indicate whether McClellan provided the alcohol, but state he was the only person older than 21 at the party.
