Spate of vehicle break-ins at local landings

The Clarendon County Sheriff's Office reported this week that several vehicle break-ins occurred at Alex Harvin Landing and Barrow Pit Landing on June 7. The break-ins included: A Michael Kors black leather purse with gold accents valued at about $250 was reportedly stolen from a vehicle parked at Alex Harvin Landing between 3 and 6 p.m. June 7. According to reports, the 39-year-old owner of the vehicle reported to deputies with the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office that the rear driver’s side window of the vehicle had been broken for suspects to gain access to the vehicle. A purse valued at about $60, a day planner, cosmetics and about $40 in cash were reportedly stolen from a vehicle parked at Alex Harvin Landing between 3 and 6 p.m. June 7. According to reports, the 42-year-old owner of the vehicle told deputies with the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office that she found a vehicle’s window broken out, shortly before discovering the theft. A purse containing a driver’s license, credit cards, $100 cash, a $200 Lowe’s gift card, an iPhone and vehicle keys, altogether valued at $450, were reportedly stolen from a vehicle parked at Barrow Pit Landing off S.C. 260 in Manning between 6 and 6:30 p.m. June 7. According to reports, the vehicle’s 40-year-old owner told deputies with the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office that while he and his mother were returning to shore on his boat, he saw a male suspect exiting the passenger’s side of an SUV sitting beside his truck and breaking a window out of his truck.
