LAKE CITY - June Coker Allen, 84, wife of the late Algie Keith "A.K." Allen, died Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at her home, after an illness with family by her side.

Born June 29, 1930, in Florence County, she was a daughter of the late Leon Levi Coker and Minnie Estelle Matthews Coker. She was a 1949 graduate of Scranton High School. She retired from Charleston Southern University, where she received the Distinguished Service Award in 1996.

At the University, June Coker Allen was referred to as "Artist-in-Residence" with respect to floral arrangements, decorations and catering. She was the founding member and president of Bible Outreach Church in Lake City, where she was very active in the music ministries.

Mrs. Allen was known best for the love of her children, grandchildren great-grandchildren, her church, and her church family.

Survivors include her children, Brenda (Hal) Lowrance of Raleigh, N.C., Faye (Bobby) McArn of Columbia, Keith (Lynn) Allen of Charleston, and Karen Allen Sanderson of Lake City; eight grandchildren; Allen (Sarah) Lowrance of Rock Hill, Travis (Amy) Piazza of Charleston, Bryan (Lisa) Lowrance of Raleigh, Jennifer (Jason) Britt of Lake City, Jessica (Jose) Noy of Hannahan, Krystal (Jason) McCutcheon of Scranton, Aaron Allen of Rock Hill, and Ashley (Juan) Martinez of Memphis, Tennessee; and she is the proud "Gran-Gran" to 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Aleta Munn, Juliet Trubela, Lenzie Stack, Jettie Coker and Patricia Dennis; four brothers, Carvin Coker, Luther Coker, L.O. Coker and Clifton Coker.

Funeral services for June Coker Allen were held Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Bible Outreach Church in Lake City, with burial followed at Lake City Memorial Park in Lake City.

The family received friends Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Carolina Funeral Home in Scranton.
