Operation Generation Mentoring Program

The Operation Generation Mentoring Program is winding down the 2014-15 school year, as St. Paul Elementary School teacher Brenda Gist seeks more mentors for the 2015-16 school year. "As this school year draws to a close, we would like to thank our program liaison, Brenda Gist, and the parents and guardians who allowed their children to participate as mentees and, of course, our mentors who (took) the time out of their schedules to make a difference in the life of a student," according to a Facebook post from the program. Rural Leadership Institute-Clarendon Board members Bea Rivers, Lesley Dykes, Charlotte Johnston, Betty Bosier, Sam Levy, Chris Harvin, Jamie Welch, Jennifer Jean and Otis Reed thanked their benefactors, the Francis Marion University Education Foundation, Duke Energy, the Summerton Rotary Club and other anonymous donors. "There are plenty of students who could benefit from having a mentor next school year in addition to the ones that are lucky enough to have one already in this program," the group's post states.
