Born Sept. 29, 1930, in Williamsburg County, Ella Mae Cooper Eaddy was a daughter, and the second of eight children, of the late Ruie and Abbie Janette Wilson Cooper.

Ella Mae was especially devoted to her family and was always available to assist them in sickness and in health. She will be affectionately remembered as the family member who was always there to support you when you least expected, in spite of her busy schedule.

Her work history consisted of more than 30 years of dedicated server to the state Department of Health and Environmental Control, from which she was retired. After retirement, Ella Mae embarked on a career of patient care that she would later be identified with as her "passionate calling." She would daily render hours of priceless care that often resulted in love for people that she identified as extended family members.

Ella Mae was also the proud matriarch of Samuels and Richardson Funeral Home in Lake City.

Survivors include her children, Bertha Wilson, Audrey Gamble, Karone Johnson, Patricia McGill, Donald Dickson, Faye Polite and David Eaddy; her like children, Freddie Hannah and Jerome Singletary; her grandchildren; her great-grandchildren; her great-great grandchildren; and her sisters, Lucille Cooper Duffin, Christine Cooper Gamble and Thara Cooper Hickson.
