A man who chased another man with a crowbar at the Minute Man Market early Saturday afternoon was charged with public disorderly conduct and may face a charge of attempted assault, according to Manning Police Chief Blair Shaffer. Brian McFadden was arrested about 1:10 p.m. Saturday and charged with disorderly conduct. Shaffer said McFadden saw his girlfriend at the store talking with another man, whom McFadden then allegedly chased down. Shaffer said McFadden then allegedly went to his vehicle and pulled out a crowbar. The victim, whose name will not be released, fell and scraped his hand during the altercation. McFadden also had a knife on his person, but it was unclear if it was used in the attack. Shaffer said a charge of attempted assault is likely due to the nature of the altercation. He said the victim was treated on scene by Clarendon EMS.
