The Clarendon County Sheriff's Office arrested a 39-year-old Manning man late Sunday night after his 38-year-old wife told deputies the man became irate and struck her in the face and threatened to kill her. Dameon Lamont Patterson, of 1074 Bruce St. in Manning, was arrested at his home and charged with criminal domestic violence, according to a report from the Sheriff's Office. Deputy 1st Class Ernie Grice and Sgt. Matthew Stone responded to a home in the 1500 bloc of Wyboo Avenue in Manning about 9:30 p.m. Sunday in reference to a call for a female needing help. A man living in the home said he was inside when he heard someone knocking on his door. He said he answered the door and saw the victim hiding in his bushes, that she was visibly shaking and "very afraid," reports state. The man brought the victim inside and called 911. The victim told deputies she was afraid that Patterson was going to kill her. Deputies reported the woman had a large contusion on her forehead and bloodshot eyes. The woman told authorities that her cell phone had rang while she and her husband were together, and that the suspect became angry and wanted the password to the woman's phone, which she refused to give him. He ten struck her in the face and allegedly threatened to kill her. The victim told deputies she passed out during the assault, and when she woke up, he was in another room. Deputies made contact with the suspect at his home, and he told them things "got out of hand." Deputies "determined that Mr. Patterson was the primary aggressor and he was arrested for criminal domestic violence," a report by Grice reads. The victim was transported to Clarendon Memorial Hospital for treatment. Patterson was released from the Clarendon County Detention Center Monday on a $5,000 surety bond.
