Capt. Robert McCullough with the state Department of Natural Resources said three Sumter men were injured, two severely, when their 15-foot bass boat ran aground in the Taw Caw area of Lake Marion. "We are still investigating the cause of the wreck and what caused the men to run aground," McCullough said. Two were airlifted to Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia by helicopter. "One had head and leg injuries, while the other had rib and chest injuries," McCullough said. "They were in stable, but serious condition." The third male was treated by Clarendon EMS and Clarendon Memorial Hospital for minor cuts and bruises and released, McCullough added. He said it is unknown at this time if alcohol was involved.
