OLANTA -- Annie Lou Matthews, 93, widow of Wade Olee Matthews, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 22, 2015 at Bethel Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery, directed by Floyd Funeral Home.

The family will greeted friends for an hour prior to services.

Born in Florence County, she was a daughter of the late Boyd Elijah Broad and Daisy Mims Broad. She retired from Florence County School District 3, where she was the cafeteria manager, and was a lifetime member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Jimmy Matthews; a sister, Violet Fraley; three brothers, Caleb Broad, Clatyon Broad and Gurley Broad; and a son-in-law, Michael Rodkey.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty (Earl) Sims of Olanta\ and Frances Rodkey of Fort Wayne, Indiana; three sons, Don (Janet) Matthews and Mickey (Vivian) Matthews, both of Florence, and Bill (Joy) Matthews of Olanta; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Home of Florence, along with her caregister and friend, Marie Goodman.
