Bond was denied Sunday for two suspects charged with the alleged armed robbery of a Summerton department store. Darius Deonte Cummings, 25, is charged with armed robbery and attempted murder, while Denzel Moultrie, 22, is charged with accessory to murder and accessory to attempted murder. According to Summerton Police Chief Ray Perdue, Cummings allegedly entered the Summerton Dollar General about 1:30 p.m. Thursday and robbed a clerk at knife-point. The clerk sustained non-life threatening injuries, but Cummings, Moultrie and other suspects fled on Interstate 95. They led the Clarendon County Sheriff's Office on a 100 mph chase through Clarendon County, ultimately wrecking in a ditch in the Ram Bay area. Deshaun Forrest, 25, was charged with failure to stop for a blue light for his alleged role in the chase as driver of the getaway vehicle. An official at the jail said Forrest's bond was set Saturday at $5,000 cash or $10,000 surety. He said bond was denied for the other suspects. A hold has been placed on Cummings and Forrest for the Sumter County Sheriff's Office and the Sumter Police Department for the pair's alleged role in a week-long armed robbery spree in those jurisdictions. Sumter Police Department Public Information Officer Tonyia McGirt said Monday morning that warrants have been served from her office on Forrest and Cummings for two counts of armed robbery, two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime and two counts of first-degree assault and battery.
