The festival that brings everyone to Clarendon County will once again feature a dog show to help raise funds for children with developmental disabilities. The Clarendon Civitan Club and the Lakewood High School Junior Civital Club will join together Friday at the Clarendon County Gazebo on Keitt Street in Manning for the 2nd annual Paws for a Cause Fun Dog Show. Registration will be from 6-6:45 p.m. Friday, with judging at 6:50 p.m., and winners announced at 7 p.m. There will be a tent in the parking lot beside the Gazebo where the contest will be held. Entrants will have three minutes to “show off” their dogs, according to organizers. “You can dress them in costumes, show the judges a simple trick, etc.,” says a release from the group. “This is not a formal dog show. It’s all for fun and for charity. All well-behaved dogs are welcome.” The winners – a King, Queen, Prince and Princess – will be showcased 10 a.m. Saturday in the annual Striped Bass Festival Parade, and will receive a gift certificate to Petco and a gift basket. Registration is $10 per dog before Friday and $15 on Friday. Checks may be made payable to the Clarendon County Civitan Club, P.O. Drawer 40, Manning Sc 29102. A percentage of the proceeds with benefit the Civitan International Research Center for Children with Developmental Disabilities.
