Donate online to one of three teams for Kiss My Striped Bass

The women behind the Miss Clarendon Scholarship Pageant have issued a challenge that could see them kiss a fish Friday during the Striped Bass Festival Opening Ceremonies. Co-lead executive directors Carrie Trebil and Ericka Sexton Floyd have pledged to put up or shut up in the 2nd annual Kiss My Striped Bass being held by the Miss Clarendon queens as a fundraising event for the Children's Miracle Network hospitals. Trebil has set up a GoFundMe site for online donations, and she and Floyd will each kiss a fish Friday should online donations reach $1,000. As for the queens, the team who raises the least amount of money will also have to kiss a fish during opening ceremonies Friday, Trebil said. "Make sure you make a donation to the person you do not want to see kiss the fish!" she said. Jars are all around town - and at the Clarendon County Chamber of Commerce - for the three separate teams, which include Team Ari for Miss Clarendon 2015 Ariana Ruiz, Manning High School Coach Michael Haynes and Manning Times Publisher Leigh Ann Maynard; Team Addy for Miss Clarendon Teen 2015 Addison Hicks, Clarendon Memorial Hospital Public Relations Director Jeffrey Black and retired state Department of Natural Resources 1st Sgt. Gene Morris, a Clarendon County firefighter; and Team Eaddy for Miss Clarendon Pre-teen Eaddy Osteen, LMA high school Principal Tripp Boykin and Carolina Dance Academy owner and instructor Dixie Elliott. Donations can be made online at www.gofundme.com/s4v5b4. "If the online donation account reaches $1,000 by 4:30 p.m. Friday, (we) will kiss the fish!" Trebil and Floyd said on the Miss Clarendon Scholarship Pageant Facebook page. "This does not mean that the teams get to stop fundraising."
